Hey folks, I fired up my other toy this weekend and had a check engine light come on. I know it is not a third gen but like myself many of you have other toys too.

The victim is my 2002 Pontiac GTP. It only has 11,000 miles on it and is parked usually for 7 months out of the year. I took it out of the garage after an oil change, let it run for about 20min. I heard some solenoid cycling around the fuel pump area so I loosened the cap to see if there was pressure in the tank and there was. After that, I shut the car off. 1 hour later I went to put the car back in the garage and when I started it I got the check engine light. I fiddled with the gas cap some more to see if that was the problem but still had check engine light. Disconected the battery to clear code but came back when I fired it up. Drove it for 5 miles to see if that would help..nope.

questions:

Can I flash the codes on this car like I can on my OBDII in my taurus SHO?

If so is it jumped at the ALDL? What terminals?
Anyone else experience a similar anomaly?

The only way I know how to get codes off OBDII is with a scanner. I tried jumping the terminals on my 99 Z28 before and blew a lot of stuff up. Oops. Live and learn.
If it's been in storage that long most likely it's just an excessive misfire code.
