i want my car to sound more agressive so i was wondering what cam can i get to do this i dont want to change my heads and i have a 1985 305 carbed trans am. if any body knows then please tell me i looked at other links but could not find what i was looking for

 

Read the info link in my sig on cams, I don't really think you know enough about engines or cams to be selecting your own right now.
You can't get a good aggressive one without a bigger stall speed, steeper rear gears, bigger valve springs, and a port job and maybe a new intake manifold. Headers and exhaust are of course a given as well.

 

I'll have to admit I don't understand that. I'd rather my car sound more timid while I blow their doors off.

Modern grinds idle smoother, drive better,get better fuel economy, and make more power than what everyone remembers as that "aggressive cam sound".

Honest.

 

Put an Edelbrock RPM cam in it.

It'll sound MEAN.... just like a "real" race car.

On the other hand, it won't have enough power to pull itself up onto your driveway off of the street, if it has a ramp. Probably turn the ¼ mile in a second to a second and a half slwer than it does stock.

That's a "poseur" way of trying to impress people. Those who REALLY know what they're looking at, will laugh up their sleeves at you when your back is turned.... and of course, blow you away at every traffic light.

 

thanks for the reply guys i dont know that much about cams and have been doing some research and i learned a little. i just love that sound and if it will hurt my car more than it will help it then i will probably just go ahead and put true duals on my car to give it that sound im looking for sorry if this was a dumb question . but i am going to leave my 305 alone and wait to fix up the lt1 im goin to put in my car.

 

I had the Crane Cams Power Max 2050 cam and it made the car sound really mean on my bolt on 305.
