hi! i'm new to camaros. i'm gona buy a camaro this month, this dude is selling a 1991 rs and he says that they recently replaced the motor with a 350, but how can it tell if in fact it is a 350, cuz he said he sent his wife to take the car to the shop to have the motor replaced cuz his son blew the original motor. any diferences, what should i should look for. please help thanks.

 

casting numbers on the block.. find the numbers, record them down, jump back on the internet and find out if those casting numbers lead to a 350.. if its a 305, harrass that bastard and call him a fraud and tell him he was adopted and his parents dont love him.. but anyway, get those casting numbers.. other people will be able to tell you where they are located.. i just cant put it into words that most will understand..

The casting numbers you want are behind the head on the drivers side its kinda tough to get to but you should see 5.7 or 350 if its a 350. Or 5.0 or 305 if it's a 305. Most 87 and newer small blocks will tell you in liters. Get a flash light and start crawling under the hood. And even if it's a 305 if it's new it should still be worth the buy.

 

I just picked up a 350. came out of a chevy pickup, and has a TH350 trans with it. I've searched all sorts of sites, but I can't find my casting number on any of them. The number is 460776. Anybody know a site that might help?

Edit: was just able to find it. I got lied to, it's a 305, not a 350! at least it was free.
