!!HELP!!
!!HELP!!
Alright, So I own a 92 Camaro RS, 5.0L v8, 700r4 tranny built to corvette specs, with a basketball sized dent in the right front fender. But thats not the point. The point is, I need some help, and fast.
Ive asked numerous people about this, and still havent gotten a solution that worked. So in a nutshell, heres the problem.
-Friday, I park the car in the garage (working perfect)
-Sunday, I go back, and it wont start
*there is no clicking when the key is turned, and the engine wont turn over*
-I jump the battery, just incase, but it still wont start
-Install a new starter, but still, wont work.
-Look up error codes, and get a 53 (EGR or VATS)
*I just replaced the EGR*
-I heard it may be the key, cause other people with the exact same "symptoms" said they used their spare key and it started right up. I, however, dont have a spare, so I go to the Chevy dealership to get one made. They tested my key (for the resistence and whatnot for the VATS) and said my key was fine.
What could the problem be? Ive tried almost everything. When it comes down to it, the starter isnt getting any voltage.
Has anyone run across this problem, or know any information (what it is, how to fix it, how much it will cost to fix, etc) ????
any help would be greatly appreciated.

there is a tech article on VATS. Some good info. Do a
for VATS and you will probably find enough info to roast your brain.

Re: !!HELP!!
So, my car wont start, and we are thinking it may be the VATS. And to fix that, you need a new key. It sounded easy, seeing as you just had to measure the resistence of the key, go to the dealer, and have them make you a copy of your key with that same resistence. But the thing is, we measured it, and the resistence is zero. Which isnt one of the 15 resistences it should be. Anyone know anythign about this?
Simple observation, on fbody.com this is what you asked. If your key reads 0 which means your key in not fine. Read the tech articles you will find what you need. If you are not sure what or how to do it find a friend who has decent electrical knowledge. Electricity can be a nightmare if you have little or no understanding of it.
IMHO you will get a far better/faster response and more accurate info here than fbody.com. If you read a lot of the posts there they usually coming here for the right info.
