350 or 400
My 350 just blew today on the way to work.
So I was talkin to mechanic and he said that He has a 400. My question is, Is a 400 better or worse or should I stick with a 350
thanks Ray

Re: 350 or 400
I vote for the 400. I am in the process of building a 421 or 434 I havent decided yet. Go with the 400, atleast I would
Re: 350 or 400
Inches are inches, but there are a few draw backs. 400 have siamese cylinder walls, therefore they require a well working cooling system. You also want to be sure that its a 2-bolt main, not a 4-bolt. Unlike a 350, 4-bolt main 400 blocks are actually weaker, the thinner main caps(larger main journals than a 350) are known for cracking between the bolts. Also, anything over +.040 overbore needs to be sonic tested for wall thickness.
- There are other quirks associated with building a 400, but it si a good motor, and as I said, inches are inches. The only thing that beats cubic inches is cubic dollars.
