Couple of questions about odds and ends.

I had a few questions

1991 Trans Am GTA 5.0 TPI

Number 1. My car sometimes dies when it is at idle or shift from park to drive. Or even while it is in drive while just idling. I changed the plugs, wires, rotor and cap and it still does it. It just doesn't make any sense unless question number 2 would be the culprit.

Number 2. I was checking the wires to the plugs and found a broke off vacumm line I believe that comes from the intake manifold. So any clue where that one comes from?

And now Number 3. I have a Viper Alarm System. A couple months ago I installed a Heater Core. I removed the ECU from the car. So now my headlights go and down when you lock or unlock the doors. But they didn't do that in the first place. The alarm is supposed to just chirp once for lock and twice for unlock but now it doesn't chirp at all and the headlights move. The only lights that flashed on the car were the tail lights, markers, blinkers, and fog lights(If activated). The headlights never came up? So now I'm confused about the alarm. Do you think the computer could have screwed it up or something?

Thanks for taking the time to read all that and for any guesses or answers!!!

Re: Couple of questions about odds and ends.

It's hard to tell from your picture, but I believe that silver/blue piece in the middle of your photo should have 3 vacuum lines hooked to it. I would check that piece and see if it is broken. Plastic pieces around the intake manifold heat up & cool down so many times they become brittle. I attached a photo of that piece on my 89.

As far as I know, a leaking (or disconnected) vacuum line would affect the idle.

Hope this helps!

Re: Couple of questions about odds and ends.

Yep that would be the line I was refering to. The small plastic line has been broken off. The other larger rubber lines are fine but the plastic one is broken and I don't have a clue where it would go to. I've looked all around and haven't found the other end of it.

I put my finger against it while the car was running and it is a vacumm line. Here is a better picture of where the line comes from. I removed the broken small plastic line. So does anyone know where the other end of the small plastic line goes to?
