Hey guys. I've got a 91 Camaro Z28 with a tuned port motor. The last two months, I have been having a gas smell inside the cab. After the car sits for 30 mins to one hour I open the doors with the windows up and a whiff of gas comes from the inside. I had a smoke test performed at a repair shop. It's where they spray some type of smoke to detect leaks. If smoke is visible there's a leak. Anyway, nothing was found. After that was done, I experienced it again today. Where should I start tracking this problem? Should I purchase a gas detector analyzer?
Some of hte 91 Camaros had bad welds on the filler neck of the gas tank. They had a recall on it, that might be your problem.

Could also be a cracked Purge Canister...

Is it that coffee can looking canister located in front near the driver's side headlight? Where do I look for cracks?Originally Posted by cheppibear

Yes, I remember that recall. I took my car 1995 for that recall and the dealership said they find anything wrong. If it's a result of that defect, is there a company that makes a gas tank without that defect?Originally Posted by InfernalVortex

Yes, you are correct. I would remove the hoses and take it out of the car to do a thorough inspection.Originally Posted by steve's Z28
