Are push rod guide plates noisey
Are push rod guide plates noisey
I have had my new motor running a few time now letting it get up to temp and cooling back off at about 2000rpms. I have been looking everything over as close as possible and have a few questions . My valves seem a bit noisey at ideal. The guy who built the engine says they are adjusted correctly. I was going to check the adjustments and make sure the poly locks stayed tight when I found a post saying push rod guide plates are noisey. Is that true? I have them with roller tipped rockers. Also it sounds like a ticking sound at the timing chain cover. Is this a major concern?
Re: Are push rod guide plates noisey
Noisy valvetrain depens on a buncha things if it's a "problem" or not. Need to know a little more about the combination to say if something's obviously out of whack.
I can answer your main question, though..... NO, guideplates will not cause noise. They're just there to hold the pushrod in place side-to-side so the rocker stays centered on the valve stem tip. That's it, nothign more to it that that.
