Oiling Problem?

After installing the newly rebuilt motor and the new Hooker 2055 headers I test drove the car with open headers. It ran wonderful, and also quite loud. I hooked up the y-pipe and connected it to the exhaust. After doing so, I found that I had a ticking sounds. I thought it was more than likely an exhaust leak and it sounded like it was coming from the passenger side.

I pulled the passenger side valve cover to make sure all was ok there. I started the car and had towels all over the place in case the oil spurted all over. To my surprise, it was coming out the top of the Comp Cams Pro Magnum roller rockers but not squirting out.

How much oil should come out that way? I only had the car at idle but I wasn't sure if I had an oiling problem or not. I am running 30W during the break-in period. During idle the oil pressure reads around 30, a little above. While driving or revving, it is pegged above 60.

I have a 350 bored 60 over, High volume oil pump, ZZ4 cam, 113 aluminum heads, Comp Cams Pro Magnum Roller Rockers, and the other things I mentioned earlier.

I did tighten up the header on the passenger side and the ticking went away.

What do you all think?

Thanks,

Pat

Re: Oiling Problem?

No worries. Mine never spurted either and I also have a high volume oil pump.

Re: Oiling Problem?

Hey thanks for the quick reply! That's good news. I was hoping I was getting proper oiling, but wanted to make sure.

The car is running great but didn't want to ruin anything during break-in. After sinking around $5000 into the car, I surely didn't want to mess anything up!

Thanks again, I really appreciate the post!
