Re: smog pump help

If it is not the power steering pump, it is the smog pump...THEY ARE UGLY...I have worked on mine a couple times, and have yet to get it out, as I rounded out the torxs bolts holding it in....It is not hooked up anymore, but it is still there...It makes no noise...Be sure to clean out the bolts with something sharp, so your wrench will fit in the hole properly...I must now cut off the heads, and get them out with vise grips.NO FUN..On my other thirdgen, they came right out, and had the pump offf in about an hour..Good luck, Tom

Re: smog pump help

yeah it will run fine when you take the lines off, you will have to plug the main line coming off of each manifold though, and now you wont have a check engine light on, but you will fail emmisions testing if you have to do it.

Re: smog pump help

Do you by chance still have the smog pump... my lines are plugged and I just purchased this car from AZ and i'm in Vegas which requires emissions test. I cant seem to find the smog pump on the car and they want 65 for a new one.. I dont even have the lines or know where it all goes... anything would help.
