New Steering Shaft

My rag joint is bad on my 82 camaro and it cant be replaced without replacing the whole shaft new from gm. My question is there any aftermarket companies that make a steering shaft for a third gen where the rag joint are replacable without replacing the whole shaft. please let me know.

Re: New Steering Shaft

who said you can't replace the shaft w/o buying new??

The shaft collapses a bit, allowing removal w/o removing the gearbox. When i stabbed my iroc gearbox i had planned to replace the ragjoint, but ran out of time. now it sits in my closet, ready to be put back together.

Only hard part of replacing the ragjoint is cutting out the studs that hold it in. Then its just four 1/4 bolts and a new ragjoint later, you're all done. Ragjoint can be had at autozone in the help section. don't remember PN offhand.

need any more info let me know.
