Cylinder Dies when warm?
Hi, I have a rebuilt 305 TBI in my camaro that was just put in, it runs fine when you first start it up besides being extremely sluggish off the line, but its a 305, but once it warms up and its been driven for a while it seems as if one or more of the cylinders stop firing the check engine light will come on and usually short after the car will die, when you go to pull codes off of it there is none? Has any one had this problem? Or have any ideas as to what it may be? A friend told me that it might be an electrical short but just checkin here first to see if any one has had this happen.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and all of your input.

Re: Cylinder Dies when warm?
sounds like a vac leak at the intake base, ignition problem, or the engine is running very lean for one reason or another.

To check for the vac leak on the intake base would I spray carb cleaner around where the intake manifold meets the heads and block? and is there any easy way to check if the engine is running lean?

First off, hook up a vacuum gauge to verify whether or not there is a vacuum leak. If there is one, you can spray around the intake (where the intake meets the heads), and see if the idle changes. Although, from the description, it sounds as if it's more along the lines of igntion or fuel/combustion related.
Once it stalls out, does it start up right away again?
