yet another with timing issues ...

Hello all. Just a quick sanity check... This is my first project on the F-body side and am glad I converted. Just need to know if there is any magic wire that would prevent #1 from firing.

I have a 82 Carb'd camaro, 305 auto trans. after market carb.

this is with the ecu wire disconnected and connected (no effect), rotated the engine and verified that number 1 was at tdc and at the distributor. so I have replaced the rotor, cap (twice), and even a new distributor with new internals. new plugs and wires and I ran continuity on the coil. when hooking a timing light up I get sporadic illumination, if any, from number 1. all other plug wires work fine. she starts right up and pulls 18 vacumm. definetley runs rough though(miss) and pops and no power under load.

any thoughts welcome - another bad distributor? picking up a wobble off the cam gear ?

Thanks ... yes that has been my mantra while kneeling bedside every night 18436572 this one has me stumped. I will probably just yank the ignition components and throw in an MSD.

swapped back to the old distributor and guts bought a 4th Cap (different MFg'r) and shes been purring for the last week. I was hesitant to say anything to see if it would go intermittent again. starts on half a crank and is and running good.

On to the Transmission demons ....
