Re: Junkyard Dog
And please, please, please go with a black distributor cap.
It has to be the opposite of the "dress-up" motors.
Good thing it ain't mine, that tunnel-ram would be flat black, top to bottom

Re: Junkyard Dog
Well ya got the blacked out intake but the red Bowties stay.
The gold Milodon oil pan and timing cover match the holley/proform carb.
The only chrome is the dipstick, timing pointer and valve cover hold downs.

Re: Junkyard Dog
More power in the critical 4000-6500rpm range. Typically 15 to 30 hp more.
More torque also. (longer runners)
More power and better distribution with nitrous.
Wild visuals.
Got a matching carb set to work with now. Am redoing the fuel system. What a pain.
Got a tranny leak to solve yet also. I hate working on this thing.
I waste way too much time helping others solve their issues. But its coming along.
Twin carter 4594 pumps 144GPM Free flow No regulators required.
twin 3/8" tank pickups and inline filters. 2x 3/8" hardline tank to carb(s).
Nitrous will be fed from the front fuel cell.
New Auburn Posi installed. It's raining out today...

Re: Junkyard Dog
Well after flow testing the two pumps on the car it seems one of them actually cranks out 14psi static pressure and will maintain 13psi flowing thru a .097" orifice.
So it will need a fuel pressure regulator to tame it down. Not a problem.
The other pump is working as designed @6psi static and a steady 4psi flowing 47GPH flowed thru a .110" holley needle/seat assembly.
So the one pump, by itself should easily support this motor's fuel demand.
Thru two.110" needle/seat assemblys of a 4bbl or 4 using dual carbs.
Going to modify the Edelbrocks for dual fuel inlets.
Scored a AFR meter (narrowband) today to aid dialing in the tunnel ram carbs idle and cruise calibration and help keep tabs at least on the N20 tune up..

Re: Junkyard Dog
Somebody made me an offer I couldn't refuse. The Junkyard Dog got sold.
But I got another block, crank and 2 more 416 heads to do it again.

Re: Junkyard Dog
Well, I'm bummed out but I understand. It's like the '70 model Firebird Esprit that my dad handed down to me with 245,000 miles on it. It had a 2 barrel carb on it and the first thing I did was put a 4 barrel intake off a 400 with Q-jet on it. It picked up 2 miles per gallon highway and ran like a spotted ape.
The guy that bought it off me got tired of being beaten by a 3-speed stick with a "stock" engine!
Let us know when you start on "Junk Yard Dog II"

Looks great with the tunnel ram. How long before you paint that awful looking timing cover black?
Just curious.
