Used 350 block

As you can see I'm pretty new to the forum. I just received from my friend a 4 bolt main I believe casting "010" 350 block. It's dirty and needs to be hot tanked, magnafluxed and honed to clear it up a bit and make sure there are no cracks (crosses fingers). Now my aspirations for this engine is to become a 383 stroker with a supercharger. I've been trying to look around here at thirdgen.org (great place found a lot of good details on engine building, interior etc ) for information on what kind of parts to get when wanting a supercharger. I'm guessing with the SC you need everything to breathe more? Such as larger cfm carb/carbs etc. But for the build I want to do what should I look for, oh and money isn't an issue since I'll be building this engine over the course of a year. Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

Supercharging increases the stress on everything. You'll probably need more than a hone, have the cylinders mic'd and checked for taper, you'll probably have to bore it out to the next oversize to clean it up. Have the cylinder walls sonic checked before you spend machining money on it to make sure it has sufficient wall thickness to take the overbore (core shift resulting in thin wall spots were common with those blocks).

Depending upon how much boost you're going to run, you should consider forged everything - crank, rods, pistons. Do not use hypereutectic pistons.

Beyond that, the details of heads, intake, cam, carb, etc., will depend upon expected power level, use, and all.

Re: Used 350 block

I see. I'll make sure to bring up all the machining work to the guy I go to for it. So forged steel, should I go for iron at all? I pretty much want the most power I can get while still being able to drive it on the street stably.
