Backfiring?

I have a 3rd gen convert that I purchased last year. My wife & I decided to take it on a 400 mile trip to the Smokey Mountains. Own the way I noticed what sounded like the car was backfiring when I lifted off the accelerator.

I thought that maybe I got some bad gas along the way, so at the next fill up I got some octane boost & cleaner and filled it up with premium. This did not fix the problem. At the next fill up I did the same so I guess it wasn't bad gas.

Also after this trip the car has stalled like 3x's while setting at a traffic light. Almost as if the idle is too low. On some of the older cars I have worked on I would simply adjust the distributor to correct this problem but not real sure with this 3rd gen.

I think the prior owner(s) maybe have adjusted the computer possibly but can't say for sure.

Any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Backfiring?

I did a little ask.com on Why is my camaro backfiring.....they say its most likely the dizzy that might be to advanced or the carburetor (if you have one) might be OVER-FUELING. I am not sure on the carb as I know nothing about them but the dizzy sounds about right. Check the timing on the car and let us know.
