Q-jet and intake advice

I have an 86' IROC and I'm looking for a decent intake for my 350 that's going in. I want to keep the cc q-jet carb and just want a mild upgrade and keep my emissions legal.

What would be a good choice for me? I have searched the forums, summitt and Jegs. So many choices are overwelming me. HELP

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The emissions-legal choices are the Edelbrock EGR Performer 3701, Summit 226017, GMPP 10185063, and Weiand 8000.

I found this by going to summitracing.com, clicking on the "Departments" link, then Air & Fuel Delivery; Chevrolet; 1986; Intake Manifolds; Intake Manifolds, Carbureted; 5.0L/305; 4-barrel spread bore; dual plane; EGR "Yes".

They're all basically the same thing (word is Edelbrock makes the GMPP intake, it's exactly the same thing as the Performer except for the bowtie logo). Take the stated RPM range with a grain of salt.

If I was in the market today, I think I'd go with the Summit part.

But I think all of those are the same as the stock one, just cleaner. Is the RPM intake not emissions compatible?

Yes, it is not.

They are different from stock, and will improve power to some degree.

Re: Q-jet and intake advice

Does any one know if the summit intake is the same as the pro. products intakes? Where are they being made if its not?

Re: Q-jet and intake advice

The Summit house-brand SBC intakes are all made by Weiand (owned by Holley). They're actually exact clones with the Summit logo on them instead of the Weiand logo.
