It's too big!

It needs to be smaller.
Minds out of the gutter. I'm talking about the wiper motor. Those of you that have tall valve covers on your SB's.....what have you done? In order for me to remove the DS valve cover I have to disconnect the battery, remove the alternator, and remove the wiper motor. I currently only have 2 bolts holding the wiper motor in since I can't even get to the third.
I'd like to be able to retain the wiper motor without having to remove it whenever I need to remove the valve cover. They're perimeter bolt valve covers so there are studs for the hold-downs.

Searches came up with questions but no answers. I'm sure some of you have had issues like this. What'd you do? I could grind the plastic cover and re-cover with something but that would look ghetto.

Re: It's too big!

the valve covers should come off easily, just take the studs out... use an inverted star socket, or a pair of vice grips if you're having that much trouble...

Re: It's too big!

That's not the issue. My studs are flat blade screw in. Unfortunately with TPI and perimeter bolt valve covers you HAVE to have the studs in to keep the VC gasket in place. It's impossible to line up the gasket with the runners in the way. I'm looking for a way to not have to remove the wiper motor, i.e. smaller motor, if I want to remove the valve cover. I need about .5" more clearance.
