Re: 91 CAMARO MOTOR PULL
OH THATS GREAT THEN I WONT HAVE TO PULL RADIATOR OR CONDENSOR. THE ONLY THING I WAS WORRIED ABOUT WAS THE CORE SUPPORT NOT GIVING ME ENOUGH ROOM.

Says who? The first time I pulled an engine out, i researched it, bought the tools and with 2 friends, did it, how the **** else are you suppose to do it? Everyone asks more than a car is worth to do the damn job.

Such violence.
Some pull with tranny others including myself pull without the tranny.
Remove everything on top of the motor. You can leave the heads on.
Remove the distributor
You can leave the intake manifold on.
You'll probably have to remove your headers.
I strongly suggest removing the radiator. Too expensive to hit with a swinging engine. You have to drain the coolant anyway.
Obviously the hood.
You don't need to remove the front bumper cover if your crane boom extends. For safety's sake though don't forget to extend the legs as well.
Other than that you're just disconnecting things. Go slow. Something always gets missed. 1 or even 2 helpers to guide the engine and look for something missed is a good idea.

Re: 91 CAMARO MOTOR PULL
you dont need to remove the front bumber, you should have just enough room to lift the engine out. you probably better off disconnecting the tranny as well, its just easier that way. make sure you label all the parts and bolts when you disconnect things or your gonna have fun trying to figure it out later.

Re: 91 CAMARO MOTOR PULL
Just pulled a TPI motor and swapped in a carbed one. Get a good hoist, take your hood off, get all the wires out of the way and use a jack to support the tranny under the car after the crossmember is loose, its a decent substitute for a load leveler. Remove the distributor for sure, wiper motor would also help. I also had the entire intake tract removed.
Oh, yeah, pull the radiator and condenser out, like Viprklr said, too expensive to hit with a swingin engine, and it'll also give you more room to work.
But there's no reason on this earth *IMHO* NOT to pull the tranny with the motor, unless you don't want the tranny out, in that case leave it, it will be a bit easier, just keep in mind that jackin around with a tranny underneath the car is NO fun.
If you decide to pull the engine separately from the trans, make sure you support the front of the trans with something to keep it from tearing the crossmember/mount up.
If you decide to pull both at the same time, do yourself a favor and jack the rear of the car up as high as you can, this will put the core support closer to the ground and get you a good angle without using a load leveler. You shouldn't have to remove the bumper, I didn't. If you get everything high enough to clear and the trans tailshaft is still hangin down, just grab it and raise it up and over by hand, theres not much force needed to move it around once it is hanging off the hoist... LOL it took us a couple minutes to figure that out at first.
I just completed this yesterday so its still pretty fresh, feel free to PM if you need to I'll help out where ever I can.

Re: 91 CAMARO MOTOR PULL
Thanks man that really helps out, i don't really have alot of time to screw with my Z, but this weekdend i'm hoping to get the motor pulled out and the motor over to the machine shop. It really helps out on most of that info ya gave me.lol I have allready got every bolt and part labeled what it is and where it goes. Just because it's going to take me a little while to get this done I won't remember.
