ok here is what I have. I did an engine swap from a 305 to a 350 on a 92 camaro rs tbi. when I got the car there wasn't much there so I had to search around for everything. I have it built and put in. instead of the stock coil I converted it to the old style canyster style. when i crank it has fuel and spark but doesn't fire over or even backfire. I have double checked my firing order a bunch of times. I think it has something to do with the timing or maybe vats but if it was vats i don't think i would get a crank. please help!! any suggestions? my wife got me the registration and tags for fathers day so now I really want to get it going.

 

How long has it been since the 350 engine that you put in was run? An engine with proper spark and compression will start on starting fluid. The engine may be "dry" if it has been sitting up for over a year and not have compression. To solve this, put a tablespoon of oil in each spark plug hole to wet the rings and spin it over. Put the plugs back in and spray it with starting fluid.
Be carefull with the starting fluid, it takes a month for eyebrows and eyelashes to grow back. Ask my brother how I know.

 

I HAVE NEVER HAD IT RUNNING. i BOUGHT IT WITH OUT AN ENGINE IN IT. IT HAS BEEN AWHILE SENCE I PUT IT IN THOUGH. i CAN CRANK IT OVER AND GET OIL PRESSURE BUT IT DOESN'T DO MUCH OF ANYTHING ELSE.
