squeling pulleys
I installed march underdrive pulleys a while back and they were fine for the first little while, but now they squel all the time. I aligned the water pump pulley with the alternator and crank pulley and checked it with a straight edge and it was slightly better but still loud. I believe it is the water pump pulley that is the problem because there is a lot of shredded rubber on the pump. The water pump pulley wobbles a little bit but it did before with the stock pulleys and they were always quiet. I'm sure it is the alignment because when I spray or water on the belt it gets quiet for a little bit insted of louder like if it were loose. I have read that aluminum pulleys can eat up belts and be impossible to get to be quiet. Is there anything I can do?

Re: squeling pulleys
What engine and year of car?
I know on my TPI's there is no "alignment" of any pulleys besides possibly the ps pump. Everything else just gets bolted but the ps pump is a press-on.
Check your belt if you feel your alignment is dead on. You may just need a new one. I've always had problems with "cheap" belts squealing. Now I only get Napa or Goodyear.

It may not be your problem, but what he says is VERY true! The difference between the Kragen Auto type places and a Napa type belt is phenominally better! Nitro
