Can someone explain to me what exactly a MSD Ignition Box would do for me?

 

On a stock engine, not much besides lighten your wallet.

 

I had some idling issues. Nothing big, part of the problem is the cam they put into the motor. Anyway, i go the box as a gift (crane HI 6S) and the idle smoothed out and its not as erratic. The pull through the whole RPM range felt more smooth and improved. I thought it was worth it, but don't expect much.

 

It is a cdi box that makes the spark a bit stronger. Under 3000 RPM it also does multiple spark per ignition event.

 

So basically for a mild 350 it wouldnt do a whole lot for me? slightly better pull through the RPM Range?

I just see them all the time, and was wondering if they would be worth the 250 or so they cost.

 

The cheapest one will be probably the best. This kinda tells ya how much they are worth...

Go with crane HI6S. Its cheaper and does the same thing, plus it gives you the option to have the revv limiter, and it comes with the box, not as a pill and you don't have to buy any extra stuff.

 

They are all over on ebay for half the price.
