I need information regarding the 82-84 z28 crossfire equipped cars. I hear that they are equipped with a vacuum operated mechanism that allows a single louver to open/close and theoretically allow air to travel into the CFI intake. If any of you have this type of car or know a lot about how that function works:

1. What exactly is making the louver open and close. I know it is vacuum powered, but a diagram or description would help.
2. At idle there is a certain vacuum (if you have steady idle heh), and at WOT there is zero or close to zero vacuum, and going from idle to WOT decreases the vacuum at a constant rate, is this statement correct?
3. If you were to take a TPI car (for example) and split one of the main vacuum lines off to operate a device similar to that found on the 82-84 CFI cars, would it result in a decrease in performance for whatever you split it off of. Just for example...if you split it off of the brake booster vacuum line. Or as long as the lines are all sealed it doesn't matter?

Electrical stuff for TPS on TPI equipped vehicles.

1. I just went and set my TPS to read 0.54vdc. I am curious as to what this means. Is the voltage going to the TPS, or is it going to the ECM, and does the ECM just read the voltage and control the TPI system accordingly? If you were to split the voltage line between the TPS and the ECM, to go off and power some small motor, would that screw up the reading at the ECM? Or does the voltage stay the same and the current splits?
2. Are there any other throttle related sensors or devices on any of the thirdgen camaros that you can think of that correlate directly to how far the throttle is open. TPS is one example, vacuum is an example....any other things?

CFI cars used the ECM to actuate this flapper door ..... You need the vacumn switch from a 83-84 carbed trans am to do what you want.

how it work zero vacumn cause the switch to to ground the electric solonoid and open the flapper door.

wiring it simple put ignition power to the solenoid, the a ground wire from the solenoid to the switch and a ground wire from the switch to a ground.
