any info on a 70-75 400 SMC engine?

well my friend is in need of cash and is finaly selling me his truck he had in his back yard , i cant find the engine cast numbersany were but he says it came from a 70-75 trans am or firebird but i cant realy find any info on the engines it self any one know a place i can try to find some info on it ? the engine i would think has 130xxx miles on it cause he has had the engine sense it was in his firebird or trans am he just cant recall what year it was he just said it was a 70's or 75's years engine

the engine right now is in a 80 chevy p/u side tep i plan on building up to use as a street strip project

yea , i just cant find any info on the engine codes i was just gonna print out the list and go hope in and see if i could find em , the engines dity thats why i cant seem to locate them were gonna be washing it monday and what not

Hmm, a 400 pontiac engine would probably be worth a fair bit to the guy who needs one.
If it were me I wouldn't build it up unless it was going back into a second gen Trans-am. Dollar for dollar you can get more power out of an SBC or BBC setup. High perf parts for a pontiac engine like that are more expensive.

its most likely going to stay in the truck (i like its look) as long as the frame isn't rotted and isn't a total rusted pos , the bed needs to be replaced or alot of body work
