Could use some help please!
Hi all,
I just replaced the distributer in my 87 carbed 305 automatic Camaro and am trying to figure out how to set the timing. The Factory service manual say to follow the instructions on the emission label under the hood. The label says to disconnect the 4 wire connector on the distributor and set the timing to spec. Problem, with the connector unplugged the car won't run. What am I missing here? By the way I purchased the car new in 1987!
Thanks in advance,
Mike

'87 went to small cap distributor with remote coil. Before that, it was large cap with the coil in the cap, and a 4-wire connector to the chassis harness.
Small cap has a single wire connector to disconnect. Try disconnecting that one and then set the timing.
