Hood Won't shut, really need help
Alright, I did a build up on my 87 trans am. Everything is put back together go to strap the air cleaner on the carborator but there is one problem. The hood hood just barely won't close. The Front of the air filter is hitting the hood and keeping it from shutting. I don't know what to do, I tried a low profile one but the front end of the round disk keeps hitting. Does anyone have a solution that won't restrict the power and doesn't require modding/changing the hood? I really could use the help.

on the air cleaner base there is a ridge that could be ground off for maybe 1/2 inch of drop if you have room for it

If you're using a 15 x 3" filter swap to a 14 x 3" (or you could go to a 2 1/2). Either way, as Spito suggests, a 1/2 drop base will probably do the trick.
