block journals?
ok the engine spun a rod bearing, will that hurt the block journals any? i dont think so but my dads best friend is telling me to have the engine block check.but thats more money i can put in the engine instead at a shop that probably just look at it.

Did the bearing shells actually "spin" within the rod? Or did the crank journal and bearing shells just get a little too intimate?
The biggest issue is what you sent through the oil passages. At the very least, the engine should be completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.

Re: block journals?
Look for bluing that means it was warped from heat. That's a sure fire way to know that you need it line honed.
It spun a ROD bearing, and you're asking about the BLOCK journals. Just making sure we're on the same page. If you're replacing the rods anyway, i'd just check to make sure none of your crank MAIN journals spun. If not I think the bearing caps for the mains should be fine.

Actually "spinning" a rod bearing (or main bearing) is very rare. What most people call "spun" is actually "wiped" - in other words, failure to properly lubricate so that the bearing insert and crank journal make metal-to-metal contact.
Both produce metallic particles that will circulate throughout the engine but one does more collateral damage (the "bluing" you mentioned) than the other.

Re: block journals?
well i bought the car knocking for 450,but yeah it just spun a rod bearing on #8.
i got the engine tore down to the block,i pressure wash it,then dry it with air, then oil it.
im getting a new crank and a new rod should come in today.
i think some pic in a few..
