OK, i finally got the unit out and thanks everyone for all your input on that, it popped right out when I used the pry-bar. Now my new problem is that I pulled the unit out and didn't unbolt the pinion
. So i tried to put the unit back in so i can use the e-brake to keep the posi from spinning but i can't keep the F**KING shims to stay in the housing. I was thinkin cleaning it up and using some pray glue to hold them in or if anyone knows how to unbolt the pinion w/o it turning I tried to jam a prybar in the yoke(or w/e its called) to keep it from spinning but all that does it put pressure on the socket and make it not turn. Im racking my brains out considering this is the first time i've ever worked on a rear.

Mine is a 4' long piece of 1/8" x 1"x1" angle iron. I have the rear end up on those cheapy $20 plastic sawhorses, then put my foot on the end of the angle iron and reef on that nut.
Remember, replace the nut with a new one, and use a cold chisel (or red loctite) to lock it in place after.
Let me know how you get the shims all back in. I'm trying to figure out a source for a shim-installer gizmo.
