Heater questions...

I'm looking at a 1991 RS Camaro to possibly buy. Here's my concern. In the process of modifying the 305 to a TPI, the current owner removed the heater core and blower motor. He couldn't mount his AC compressor due to the mod and supposedly the heater core/blower is part of the compressor, or perhaps I'm simply not understanding him correctly.

Anyway, given the car is in a modified state, will it be a huge hassle to put a heater core and blower motor in or will it require expensive custom mounting and fitting to refit the car with a fully functional heater again?

Thanks in advance.

BTW: The motor runs fabulous.

Re: Heater questions...

Welcome Aboard!

Simply converting to TPI should not affect the heater itself. It may prevent mounting the AC compressor if the appropriate brackets are not available, but the heater hoses should still be connected to the heater core, and the hot water valve (in the heater hose return) should be connected.

If the evaporator core case is still in the engine compartment, most of what you need is still there.

Does your vehicle look similar? If not, what is missing?

Re: Heater questions...

Thanks Vader.

That looks a lot like it. It was the AC that he couldn't remount because, as you indicated, he didn't have the appropriate brackets. I'll know more this Sunday. He did remove the evaporator core case but he has the parts.
