Help!! Fuel line has a twist!!
Help!! Fuel line has a twist!!
Don't know how it happened, or if it's been there before. I was changing the filter earlier and noticed the line from the tank to the filter has a twist! it looks like a perfect full twist. How hard is it to replace the line? am I going to have to drop the tank? and what all do I need to buy?
I know how cars work, and have a basic understanding on fuel systems but I've just never really worked on them. All knowledge, no experience really. Any ideas?
EDIT: Yes, I searched. Didn't find much...

no leak?
no worries.
someone just twisted the hardline when they were doing/undoing the filter.

well leaking is bad and that twist is probably causing a restriction. ok yes if its the line from the tank to the filter you will have to get a new one or used from a junk yard and drop the tank or go to plan B or c if you have to.
B:if theres enough straight line cut it out and replace it with a piece of rubber "fuel injector line" and some worm gear clamps.dont use vacuume or standard rubber line it wont hold the pressure.
C:depending on where the twist is and how big it is you can cut it out and replace it with a good brass compression coupling.

Still both of those fixes, while they get the job done, don't last as long (or look as good as) replacing the line. It all depends on how you wanna fix it, or what your skills allow. I will tell you this though, droppin' that tank is a real pain, but if i remember right you won't have to do that unless you twist off the sender tubes $$$. As far as SPIKE's suggestions I'm not a big fan of compression fittings and I thought FI tubing (the tough stuff) wasn't rated for high pressure systems (a Camaro usually hangs around 35psi, again my memory could be wrong on the exact #'s,but its close to that) and I thought FI tubing was used for 20 or lower psi.
