MAF/Other
Hi All.
I have an 88 Firebird and I am looking for the more info/location for/of the following:
Mass Air Flow Sensor
Sensor on Passenger side near Firewall (039 1129) with a number 466 on the top and an inline three connector plug and single vacuum line underneath.
Basic problem is when it's cold it idles rough/low and stalls, but when it warms up it at least idles, but still a bit low (Around 500 RPM)
I'm thinking it may be the MAF or even EGR... anyone have any good tests for either?
Thanks in advance

Re: MAF/Other
Car runs pretty rich as well; more so when it's cold. Not as much when it warms up.

Re: MAF/Other
You are describing a MAP sensor, not a MAF sensor. A mass airflow sensor would be in the duct between the air filter and throttle body.
The later cars use a speed density system with a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor instead of a maf sensor.

When I unplug the MAP Sensor, the car idles fine.
Can I assume the MAP Sensor is bad?
If so, can I drive it with it unplugged (Leave Vacuum Line plugged in) or would that be bad?

Replace it as soon as you can. With it unplugged the car will run in alpha-n mode, where it bases fueling solely on RPM and throttle position.
