car wont start
I was having problems with my alternator because when the car was running it was only running at 9volts. Today I changed the alternator and jumped the battery and the car started right up, then after I shut it off and tried again it cranked for less then a second and everything went dead. So i recharged the battery and now it will barely crank, all it does is crank, stop, crank, stop until the battery dies again. Now, my battery is only about a year and a half old, my starter I put in around Jan. but it was a referb starter, and the alternator is only a few hrs old. I'm racking my brains out over here trying to figure out the problem

Pull the battery out and take it to one of the autoparts places that checks them for free. When the alternator died it may have taken ( shorted out) the battery. Next have the starter checked too. Should still be under warranty? Check all the electrical connections, ground wires, etc. Then get back to us.

You probably have couple of problems.
First - when battery measures 9 volts it means that it lost a cell. No amount recharging will help - get a fresh one. A healthy battery will be around 11.5 to 12 volts.
Second - You may have a slow battery drain due to additional electrical load - alarm, aftermarket radio, etc. This maybe causing battery to discharge faster. Repeated deep discharges will kill a battery. I just had to replace (under warranty) battery in my truck. Also, many of today's batteries are flaky and go belly up during hot weather.
When engine is running are you getting 13.2+ volts at the battery terminals?? Just make sure that your alternator is doing the job.

The old alternator was only puttin out 9volts too, then after I installed the new alternator that along with the battery was putting out around 14 volts while running, then when i went to restart the motor it wouldn't start again.
