retro-fit roller sbc ?
ok i have 73 sbc and the retro-fit sbc hyd roller lifters, i was wondering if i could run a factory roller sbc cam and just use a cam button and trust bearing with the newer style timing set ? to make up for the area were the normal lock plate would go ?
thanks steve

No... a thrust bearing is MUCH too thick.
You could however, take a factory retainer plate, and grind the "ears" off of it, and use that as the spacer; and of course a cam button. You'd have to use the nylon type of cam button, and trim it WAY down, to fit inside the very small bolt pattern on the front of a factory roller cam.
