How much hp could you lose???

How much hp and tq could you lose from not having the right valve springs on the heads? I ask because I noticed that I bought trickflow 23 dregee angle heads and they came with single springs rated at .540 max lift. ......Well with the cam I'm running I have a lift of .570/.576, so can anyone let me know how much if at all would that take away from my motor's performance?

Pretty much all of it, when you hit coil bind and bend and break the pushrods.

1badgta,

Dont even run these springs with the cam you have. Like Apeiron said, you will do damage your valves, seats, guides, etc etc. Save yourself the agony of having to fix it when it breaks and install the proper springs from now.

Do not run those springs with that cam.

Well I guess that might have contributed to the crankshaft breaking on me? huh?

Maybe, it will do damage all around. Break a valve spring, drop a valve, slam into the piston, so on and so forth, all because you didnt wanna buy $120 valve springs and put them on.

Breaking the crank probably would have been from something else.

Re: How much hp could you lose???

Well then I guess I should be glad that the crank broke on me cause I would have still have been driving it and causing even more damage. Well I guess that this means that I should pull the motor back out again and strip it down all over again to see what else might be broken or on its way to breaking. Now I wish that I would have asked you guys before I started it.
