hi i bought a cam 07-503-8 comp cam xe with 26918-16 springs and 787-16 retainers...when i took them out the box they are half inch taller than the stock...and everywere on impalass forum they run those springs??? is there a problem because im running iron lt1 heads? seem impossible than im gonna install springs half inch preloaded???

Why would it?
Free height is irrelevant. You want at least the "spec" seat pressure (125-135 lbs), a reasonable open pressure at your cam's full lift (maybe 300-325 lbs or so), and enough clearance at full lift to be well out of coil bind. Beyond that, nothing really much matters.

Recommended Camshaft Style Roller hydraulic
Installed Height (in) 1.800 in.
Seat Pressure at Installed Height (lbs) 130 lbs.
Open Height (in) 1.200 in.
Open Pressure (lbs) 318 lbs.
