alternator question and window wash pump question

1. i did a tbi-carb swap. my new alt. has a spot to plug a 2 wire connector into and a bolt on the back for a wire. the wires i have from my old alt are a little different. i have a plug with 2 wires(red/black) but it doenst fit into the new alt, and i have another red wire with an end to go onto the bolt on the back of the alt. the red wire coming fromt he connector goes tot he starter, the black goes into the d/s harness that leads to the interior. the red wire with the the connector for the bolt is about 3 feet long and the end is just cut off. not sure where this goes?? any input would be cool

2. connector for the window wash pump- red connector with pink wire with black stripe, and green wire with yellow stripe. theres a pink wire with black dtripe coming from d/s harness intot he interior but i have no idea where the green wire with yellow stripe goes? haha

well the larger wire that comes right off the battery, positive(red) goes to the stud on the back of the alternator. You can get the correct white plug for the 2 wire post at the local auto part store on the turn rack thingies.

there is a plug on the bottom of the round cylinder part of the washer pump/wiper assembly as well as one up higher. near the black cover

Re: alternator question and window wash pump question

alright im a little confused. i attached a few pics of the wires that are still in the car that are from the 305 tbi. alright from the connector, red wire goes to starter and black goes into interior somewhere. and the 3rd wire, the wire with the circular end is about 2 1/2 ft long and has a cut off end on it. any idea where it goes??

Re: alternator question and window wash pump question

what do you mean the wire with the loop has a cut off end? does it go to the battery, and have an extra cut off wire? or is it just a cut piece of wire floating around with a loop on one side?

The other is the alternator plug, is goes in the alternator, the hole for it is in the side of the alternator, close to the stud on the back. It may be a different configuration than what the alternator accepts, so if this is the case you will need to go out and buy the right connector and replace it.

ahhh i finally figured out the first pic, yes that is the port where the alt plug goes, now it is different than the one you have the pic 2. I bought a new pigtail of the same configuration from the local National Auto Supply. It was on a blistercard and was called a gm alternator connector or something like that.

Re: alternator question and window wash pump question

yea the alternator plug is different so im gonna have to get a new one. but yea as for the 3rd wire the one end has the loop on it and the other end isnt connected to anything, so im guessign the end with the loop goes to the stud on the back of the alt (?) but where does the other end go? battery?

Re: alternator question and window wash pump question

do you still have the origional battery cables? If you do, take a look at the positive (red) cable end, where the cable comes out, and you will probably see the other cut off end still there.
