whole list of questions 88tpi

let me start off by saying this is my first build, so please be gentle on my stupid questions.
car is a 1988 firbird 350 tpi
1. starter- i know the bid wires go to the big termanal and little to litte, but have i put a little wire in the wrong place? ill attach a picture of what i did, please note that all ends were cut and had no termanil rings on there to make it easy. I tested starter and it does work fine.

2. coil- when i got the car. the coil was not attched to anything.. i found the bracket and put in in there, does it need to be screwed to the block, or else where to be grounded?

3. fuel pump- when i put power to the car the pump came on a couple times, turing key on and off, but now nothing. is it bad? or is it just not needing to come on.

4. Ignition/key switch- i noticed that when i went to turn my key to "start" it did not spring back like it should. is this a problem and potentaly why my starter will not kick over with the key?

5. emmisions- i deleted all the smog and egr componetes, witht the disconnected connectors have any affect on start up?

Thank you!

Re: whole list of questions 88tpi

Your starter looks right to me. If you short those two terminals with a screwdriver does it turn over? If it does, then the starter is fine. Security light on? Could be the ignition switch.

The coil mounts to a bracket that mounts to the intake. It does not need to be grounded.

As for the fuel pump, you probably had pressure already so no reason to run. If you wait a day or two it should run again.

i have not tried to use the screwdriver, but i ran a hard wire to the starter "switch termanl" and it begun to crank the engine. as for the coil, right now it isnt attached to anything. does it need to be?
