Possibly. Whether or not it's worth it is another question.

Re: crackt block fixable??

Ask a local machine shop what it would cost to fix it. Considering how cheap a bare block is, unless you have some sort of emotional investment in the block, it probably won't be worth it.

Re: crackt block fixable??

You have 3 options:
1. grind the crack lightly to bare metal and coat it with JB weld. (I have persoally done this with sucess after 3 yrs. It's still holding I figure that it will continue to hold as long as I have my spare engine in the garage)

2. You can get it repaired at a machine shop. ( they will drill overlaping holes and install overlaping studs the length of the crack)

3. If it's not leaking, you can do nothing. (most water jacket cracks are caused by freezing from insuficiant coolant in winter and cracks start from the outside in)

I have a 3 inch crack on both sides of the 350-4bolt in my truck. 1 was leaking and 1 wasn't. I JB'd the 1 that was and haven't had any problems yet.
So far, I have over heated it 3 times once from a waterpump failure, and twice from pluging up the radiator with mud from the mud bog's. I pull 5500 rpm through the mud,

Option 1 and 3 are ok for stock but if you are going to do some serious power upgrades I would consider option 3 or junk the block or, keep a spare engine in the garage like I do. In that case, the cracked engine will probably run a long time while you build another engine on the stand at your liesure!
