No Oil Drain Plug

Yes just as the thread says I have no oil drain plug. I went to change my oil today as I have now owned this camaro for 3 months. When I went under the car I saw where the drain plug hole is, is now where the oil dipstick in screwed into the pan. Needless to say I AM PISSED!!!
And because the dipstick is in the wrong location it doesn't give a correct reading. The engine is a 1974 CMJ 350 that has been converted to TPI by the original owner.

Re: No Oil Drain Plug

It'll read the oil level fine, if they were smart about it. Just take it out to drain the oil, and if the threads are ok you could put a plug back in.

Re: No Oil Drain Plug

Thats interesting because I went to a the GM dealership that sponsers the Camaro Club I am in and one of the techs said that the oil dipstick will not read the correct amount because of the way it is attached. see the thumbnail in the original post.

Re: No Oil Drain Plug

I looked at it. As long as the dipstick is at the same height above the bottom of the pan, it will work just fine.

Nice,
I am wondering what do they have where the dipstick is supposed to go?
Please Post more pictures for amusement purposes.

Re: No Oil Drain Plug

You'd intuitively figure it wouldn't work there, but maybe it would. Fluids do strange things in situations like that. I bet it WOULD read fine...

Not so strange. The level in the tube would be the same as the level in the pan.
