roll pin removal? HOW???
roll pin removal? HOW???
On my camaro Ive found my pickup coil to be defective. In order to replace it I have to take the distributor apart and it has a roll pin in it holding it all together. I've tried beating it out, pressing it out, and wedging something between the pin and what it's holding together to make it smaller but it still won't come out after about 45 minutes of trying. I don't want to spring $100 to buy a new distributor all because of that f***ing pin.Any reccomendations on how to remove it?

There are roll-pin punches made to knock out the pin. Go to Sears and look for a set. If you are talking about the one holding the dist. bottom drive gear, they can be a PITA due to the force on them. Try a roll-pin punch.

if it comes down to it simply drill it out with the correct size drill bit and replace it with a new one..

Try these
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...yword=Roll+Pin
Drill a hole on a block of wood, lay the gear across the wood and knock the pin into the hole.
Use some B-12 (Carb cleaner) to soften up any oil deposits that would make the gear hard to get off the shaft and to get the shaft loosened up and out of the housing.
