No power to Starter?

My car has been sitting without a tranny for about two years now and I have finally got everything in it and ready to crank, but when I turn the key nothing happens. It is as if the starter is not getting power. So I use a jumper switch on the solenoid and the car with crank. What does that mean? I tested the four wires that go to same post as the positive wire on the solenoid and they have power. I tested the purple wire that goes to other terminal and I got nothing. Should I have power at that purple wire? My solenoid cant be bad since it turns with the jumper wire right?

Check your clutch safety switch.

Re: No power to Starter?

Thanks for the input. I dont have one because this car was an auto. I ripped out the nuetral safety switch with all the auto wiring. Do you know what color it was? Also if you know what color the reverse light wire is I would appreciatte that.

Re: No power to Starter?

You'll need to put a clutch switch in then, and connect it to the neutral safety switch wiring.

Re: No power to Starter?

The wires for the neutral saftey switch that you need to connect are a green wire with a white tracer and a solid purple wire. If you simply twist them togather the starter should turn, you really should wire in a clutch switch in for saftey though.
