Lets talk braided fuel line & AN fittings.

As of now, I am running 3/8" rubber fuel line to both inlets on my holley. I need/want to convert to braided fuel line but I don't know anything about the in's and out's of the fittings and or line. I need some help and guidence for purchasing the line lengths, types, and fittings for my combo. I have a Mallory 3-port regulator mounted on my drivers side fender as well. Let me know some of your opinions and suggestions.

Thank you,

Zach

Re: Lets talk braided fuel line & AN fittings.

well 3/8inch line would be something like a 6 AN size stainless hose. ARe you running fuel lines from the stock TPI fuel hardlines on the body on the drivers side to the carb?

if so your gonna want to get a pair of TPI hardlines to 6 AN fittings adapters. Summit racing has them for 20 bucks. That will allow you to hook a AN fitting to the stock fuel hardlines on the body. Then you can run run the stainless hose to the regulator/carb as necessary with appropriate fittings. That of which i dont know off hand. but basically stainless line is easy to do with AN fittings. fittings easily screw onto the stainless hose and locks in well.

Re: Lets talk braided fuel line & AN fittings.

You probably need this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...AR%2D101175ERL and a handful of fittings and line to get from the regulator to it.

Cutting the braided line and then successfully getting it onto the fitting can be a VERY frustrating experience, if you've never done it before. Trying to do it with a hacksaw pretty much guarantees some grief. A cutoff wheel or saw, with a grit wheel instead of a "blade", works MUCH better. Put some tape around it, to keep strands of the braid from getting loose; cut it with the wheel; leave the tape on, and put the nut over the line, and then the line & nut together onto the fitting body.

Some local speed shops will make up the lines for you, if you know how long and what fittings. If they charge less than about $20 for the service, it's probably worth it to pay them to do it.

In addition to that dual-feed kit, you'll need a fitting to screw into the regulator to adapt it from whatever size it is (¼" NPT? I think, I'm not positive, you'll need to read its instructions or something) to -6AN; 2 -6AN hose ends, in whatever angle fits your routing; and a length of -6 hose. Use Teflon tape on the NPT threads at the regulator, and NO SEALER on the AN fittings, just some motor oil or light grease like white lithium on the threads.
