Somethings Grinding?

Went to go start my car lastnight after getting the engine back in and everyhting done. Turned the key.....and all i got was a loud @ss grinding sound. God damn it! I deal with this before and the flexplate was messed up and I put a new one on and a new powermaster starter and I still have this issue. I know its shimmed enough but maybe it could be shimmed too much? And then to top it off my car wouldnt even turn over at all after I adjusted things. No power going to the starter or something. Everything eles on the car worked, but nothing from the starter. Not even a click.

Re: Somethings Grinding?

re-check your flex plate and starter. perhaps you stripped off some teeth from improper shimming.
if your starter isnt engaging into teeth, itll just spin and its very hard to hear a starter spinning freely.

The starter and flexplate are fine, already checked them. I just want to know whats causing this issue. I know its shimmed enough but too much?

Re: Somethings Grinding?

could also be that. perhaps you should have a buddy start the car while you get under and see if the starter is actually engaging. just have your buddy jump the starter tho...just in case it comes to life, it might be dangerous being under a started car.

when was it working last?...could you have wired it wrong?

Re: Somethings Grinding?

Theres only two wires that go to it. One straight from the battery(thick cable) and one im guessing from the ignition(skinny wire). Thats all that has ever gone to it. Am I missing a wire or something? The engine has started before just it did this same thing before. I got a video of it starting a few months ago before I pulled the motor out. You can listen to the begining and hear it for yourself.
