How much can a head gasket change my comp ratio?
Like the tile says...
I have a stock thickness gasket on there now, I want it up as high as possible. The car is a DD 383 that is all forged. I am doing a cam swap and intake swap and am going to need as much comp ratio as possible.
Are thin HG safe to run on the street, in a DD???? she sees 3 seasons a year

Friend of mine has been running a rubber coated shim gasket for over a year on the street with no problems. I switched to one back in Feb and no problems so far but I hardly drive the car now a days. Compression went from about 9.7:1 to 10.49:1 and really woke up things.

it will up the cr by .5 to .6. It is recommended that you check the decks and heads for flatness using a machinists straight edge. Install clean and dry. Retorque the head bolts after a few warmup, cool down cycles.
use thread sealer or RTV gasket maker on the head bolts.
I like the GMPP head bolts or other head bolts with a small(er) bolt head hex size as you can retorque the heads without removing the rocker arms.
if the block has been "0 decked" (piston comes right up to the top of the bore even with the deck @TDC, it won't work. You need a minimum of .030" .035" between the head and piston top at TDC including the gasket thickness.
Other than that they work fine.
