Starting problems, PLEASE help!
Ok I have a 1990 305 tpi car that I believe is having fueling problems but I am not positive. A little background: My car has recently had a very poor idle which is very irratic and unstable, and what sounds to be a dead cylinder miss at all times. But the other day I drove my car to school, then I went to start it about 2 hours later and it just cranked and cranked. I thought I had a charging problem so It sat for a few more hours, after I returned it started right up. I drove it and got it up to temp. it sat for about an hour and wouldn't start AGAIN. Im pulling my hair out. The fuel pump sounds to be louder than usual and will whine after its been running for a while. I don't have a fuel pressure tester but my dad thinks the fuel pump is bad. His theory is that after it gets hot it gets resistance and won't operate? But I want to be positive before I go through that huge PITA! any input is greatly appreciated.

i would check the pick up in the distributor, sounds like the same problem i had with my 86TA when i bought, i changed out every damn part i could think of that would cause the problem finally gave up took it to a mechanic, he changed the pick up and it hasnt done it since. could be something different tho cuz with my car its seemed to be completly random when it would happen, sometimes hot, sometimes cold, but a couple hours later it would seem like i only turned the key half way and the car would start on the first plug fire
