just got my car back on the road, its idles around 1200-1500rpm. i just put a manual trans with the stock auto ecm. i havent drove the car in about 1 year, so im not sure if it the ecm causeing this because the manual trans (used to be automatic), throttle body spring or throttle cable. if i play with the throttle body 4 a bit it will idle at 800rpm which is move reasonable.

 

throttle body could need to be cleaned. also since the linkage is missing the resistance of the tv cable the throttle body could need a different return spring(assuming a TBI). i would start by cleaning it real good with some throttle body cleaner to get all the dirt a grime off. after that, see if your throttle linkage returns to hte throttle stop when you let off the gas.

 

Have you put in the correct ECM chip for a manual trans, or reprogrammed for manual trans?

A used one will work just as well.
