A/C question
ok so heres the question. I want to get rid of this horsepower eater. I got an 87 with the individual v-belts; when i take off the compressor do i need a replacement pulley to maintain that load off the crank pulley? I wouldnt think so but i figured id ask.
Also, lets say hypothetically, I wanted to discharge the a/c refrigerant and i didnt want to pay anyone to do it. so that means i would have to discharge it to the atmosphere. whats the best way to do that without making a huge mess??
thanks

It doesn't "eat" horsepower when it isn't turned on. If you want to take the belt off, take the belt off. The water pump and power steering will be fine with a single belt.
We'll leave it to you how to go about breaking the law. Sure, it chaffs my hide to pay someone to remove something they get to keep and sell to someone else, but it's the right way to do it.
