is this worth it?
Im lookin at this Firebird for sale but im not too sure if the engine is any good or not. I've never come across this problem with a 2.8 and i don't know if its too serious or not. Any suggestions?

Not to be a jerk, but that looks more like a $100 car more than $650. Plus timing chains usually don't skip teeth, they break. Sounds like the guy has no clue, so I'd count on a new engine, and if it really only does need a chain you got lucky.

Re: is this worth it?
Personally i'd pay $100 for the car (no offense), but for your purposes i don't know your circumstances. Anways i wouldn't offer more then $300ish, he doesn't show the passenger side, and if the driver side looks like that, i'd be afraid of the passenger side. The reason he never did the body work is becuase the rear quarters are a pian to work on, and the value wouldn't be there even if you spent countless hours doing the body work. I don't know, i just found excelent body, little dent on the fender, V8 mounted to a 5 speed firebird for only $500, and i still talked him down. I think you can find better. Not to mention all the things wrong with the car aren't fun to play with, the guy doesn't seem to know much of anything about the car, and it's a lot of work for that much money. Good luck!

The ad says, "Not sure if it has been rolled over or not" so I am gonna say no, just because of that. Why would he even mention anything about a rollover unless he knows it was in some kind of an accident. Anyways it sounds like it needs a lot of work, and it's only a sixxer.

I believe he was refering to the odometer (141,192 instead of 41,192), but from the side of that car it looks like it, thats why i said i'd be hesitant not seeing the other side of the car.

Re: is this worth it?
well ive seen the car up close. This guy lives right next door to my G/F and it doesnt look too bad. Im not worried about the motor though, i know a few people that can get me a replacement for like $200. And the price for it, i would say to the guy, $300 take it or leave it. If he were to say no i would give him my number and leave. He would probably change his mind because its been sitting there for like 8years. That doesnt worry me though, i know a few people that have like 4 junk F-Bodys with some good parts. Not too worried. and about it being a 6, not a problem. I plan on dropping a 350 in my camaro then turbocharging the Firebird if i get it. still think its worth it or not?
