help with an 89 turbo TA.
help with an 89 turbo TA.
I need some help getting an 89 indy pace car to start. A great friend owned this car and passed away several weeks ago. It has been in the garage unstarted for several months because he had cancer. I went to start it today, the battery was dead. I replaced the battery. The car turns over and will run for 1-2 seconds and then dies. The security light does extinguish before I start it. The stereo displays "locked". Is there some type of other factory security device that I dont know about?

The car sat for about 2 months. The gas gauge reads 3/4 full. I do hear the fuel pump come on. I was wondering if there are any security features(outside of the proper key) that may be causing it to die after 1-2 seconds.

According to my experience, No, it seems that you have only the Passcode key security. If that is the same as mine then you have no security issue. You have another problem. I also have a car that sat for a long time and it turns out to be bad gas. I think gas will last six months perhaps, correct me someone who knows for sure. The fuel will smell like varnish I think. It will clog up the tank, fuel pump and filter. I will be taking my tank out this week to replace the fuel pump.

I hope that helps. I can let you know how the fuel pump went, if you like.
