rear end

hi im new on here and i was wanting to see
if anyone can tell me how to find out what gear ratio
is in my rear end its a factory rear end
i have the service parts identification chart and my
buddy told me that one of the numbers on it would
tell me but how do you look them up thanks

Sure, I can tell you....

Since you need to change the fluid anyway, look at them while you have the cover off and you're catching up on the overdue regular maintenance you haven't been taking care of. Whatever you see, that's what you've got.

the ration could have been changed in its life somewhere, so sofa's method is best

the least technical way is to jack up the rear of the car, mark the wheel and the driveshaft and rotate the wheel a bunch of times, the more the better, and keep track of how many times the driveshaft turns and how many times the tire turns. divide the number of times the driveshaft turns by the number of times the wheel turns.

rotations of the driveshaft
------------------------= ratio
rotations of the wheels

LOOK ON THE AXLE IT WILL TELL YOU THE CODE IF IT HASNT been changed then you will find the code on the passenger side looking toward the rear
